The Great Controversy, SDAs, and the Historical Trash Heap

The Great Controversy is a unique book.  The wealth of spiritual, historical, and prophetic knowledge contained in its pages is second only to that of the Bible.

History is a fascinating subject, full of hidden surprises and humorous anecdotes.

History is a fascinating subject, full of hidden surprises and humorous anecdotes.  Where else but in history can you learn that the ancient Carthaginians catapulted live snakes at Roman ships to drive them off?  Or that Gilles de Rais, one of history’s most notorious serial killers, was an associate of Joan of Arc?  History reveals that two years before the Wright brothers’ famous “first flight” at 20 feet/6 meters off the ground for 120 feet/36 meters, Gustave Whitehead flew his fixed-wing airplane seven miles/11 kilometers at an elevation of 200 feet/60 meters!

Sadly, many young people today dislike history.  They dismiss the subject as nothing more than “dumb dates about ancient dead dudes.”  The reason is simple: today’s history books have taken out all the stories!  It is the stories of history that touch the heart and inspire.  It is the stories of the trials and triumphs of others’ lives that hold value and can instruct.
Margaret Wilson

"Margaret Wilson"
The Martyr of Solway by John Everett Millais (1871)

The philosopher, George Santanya, famously observed, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”  This is very true.  Dates and isolated events in history have no spiritual benefit.  It is the stories of history that give steel to the backbone and inspire faith and confidence in Yahuwah that what He has done for others, He will do for you.  Learning that 18-year old Margaret Wilson died in Wigtown, Scotland in 1685 means nothing.  However, faith is inspired when one learns that the teenager had been sentenced to death for not attending the apostate state church.  “Writing in a letter to a friend from her prison cell young Margaret wrote of her sense of the wonderful love of [Yahuwah] and explained scripturally the reason for refusing to listen to apostate ministers.”1 Her story stirs courage in hearts today to learn she went to her death singing hymns and quoting passages of Scripture.

Yahuwah also understands that important lessons are to be learned from the stories of history.  He knows the final generation will face trials unknown to previous generations.  In loving concern, He has provided a resource that links the past with the future for the sake of those living through history’s closing scenes.  This resource is found in a book that is unique out of all history books in the world.  This book, The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan, was written by a very special person: Ellen G. White, Heaven’s prophetess to the final generation.  She received sweeping views of the conflict between the forces of good and evil in vision, which she then wrote out for those upon whom the ends of the world are come.  The book lays bare the forgotten facts of history to warn of an end-time repeat of the horrors and persecution of the past.  But it is more than a history book.  It is also a religious book, revealing all-important theological truths of vital importance to the final generation.

Nor is it only a religious history book.  The Great Controversy is also a prophetic book, drawing aside the veil covering future events of great significance to every soul living on earth at this time.  The Great Controversy was first published in 1888.  At that time, no one could have imagined that the United States would become fully subjugated by Rome as foretold in this important book.  And yet that is what this divinely inspired book reveals.

The final generation is faced with the culmination of 6,000 years of planning and experimentation by evil people inspired by demons.  Now, more than at any previous time, it is vital that the people of Yah learn the lessons history has to teach because this book reveals that what has been, will be again.  In the forward to this great book, Mrs. White explained:

As the Spirit of God has opened to my mind the great truths of His word, and the scenes of the past and the future, I have been bidden to make known to others that which has thus been revealed--to trace the history of the controversy in past ages, and especially so to present it as to shed a light on the fast-approaching struggle of the future. In pursuance of this purpose, I have endeavored to select and group together events in the history of the church in such a manner as to trace the unfolding of the great testing truths that at different periods have been given to the world, that have excited the wrath of Satan, and the enmity of a world-loving church, and that have been maintained by the witness of those who ‘loved not their lives unto the death.’

In these records we may see a foreshadowing of the conflict before us. Regarding them in the light of God's word, and by the illumination of His Spirit, we may see unveiled the devices of the wicked one, and the dangers which they must shun who would be found "without fault" before the Lord at His coming.2

The truths of this book have long been the target of those who hate the light and wish to keep it’s healing rays from those who will live through earth’s final events.  The Roman Catholic Church in particular has long sought to suppress this book.  It exposes the pride, error and atrocities of papal Rome as do few other sources.  However, truth will always triumph.  The Great Controversy has been translated into over 100 languages.  Tens of millions of copies have been distributed around the world.  Such widespread distribution has made it impossible to obliterate.  Other measures were then sought to destroy this all-important book.  When a direct assault (destruction) would not work, a change in approach was necessary.

Ellen G. White, the prophetess to the remnant, was a founding member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  WLC is not an Adventist organization, although adhering to the historic truths of Adventism.  Rather, the SDA Church’s misuse and rejection of truth has led it to become a part of Babylon.  No sincere child of Yah will align himself in these last days with any organized religion for Heaven’s call is given to all: “Go out of her, My people!”

The change in approach was to change people’s beliefs regarding the Roman Catholic Church.  During the 19th century, all Protestant churches were justifiably leery of Catholicism.  They warned their congregants of the dangers of Catholic theology, dogma and policy.  The Seventh-day Adventist Church, likewise, was aware of the dangers of Catholicism and warned all to flee its errors.

It was necessary for Rome to infiltrate these various Protestant organizations in order to change their theology.  The first hint that this covert assault was underway within Adventism was changes in attitude and teaching regarding licensing and accreditation in schools and particularly hospitals where Adventists had, originally, stood for separation from the world.  Next came changes in theology to downplay the unique Adventist understanding of the Heavenly Sanctuary doctrine in order to avoid being labeled a cult.  Slowly, even with deceit, compromise with worldly custom was followed by compromise with Catholicism.

Reagan faces the obelisk January 20, 1981Full infiltration of all Christian churches in America has now been achieved.  Former Jesuit, Alberto Rivera, before his untimely and suspicious death, revealed that a prearranged signal would indicate when all the churches of America had been successfully infiltrated.  The sign would be given when a president took his oath of office facing an obelisk.  On January 20, 1981, for the first time in history, the swearing in ceremonies were moved to the west face of the Capitol and President Ronald Reagan took his oath of office while facing the Washington Monument: an obelisk.3

Neal C. Wilson was President of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists from 1979 to 1990.  He was instrumental in a number of policy changes that shifted the SDA Church to a position more conciliatory to Rome.

He began familiarizing Adventists to Catholic terminology by declaring: “There is another universal and truly catholic organization, the Seventh-day Adventist Church.”  (Adventist Review, March 5, 1981, p 3.)
Another dearly held Protestant principle, the separation of church and state, was summarily dismissed by Wilson when he used his influence to trademark and copyright the church’s name, stating: “This church/state business; be a little careful how you use that, because that is not in scripture:  separation of Church and State.  That is a particular North American philosophy. It exists no where else in the world.”  (P.U.C. Sanctuary, June 18, 1988.)

The most obvious proof of the success of Jesuit infiltration into the Seventh-day Adventist Church is found in the fact that Adventist leaders no longer sound a warning against the encroaching danger of Catholicism.  Rather, they seek to be “politically correct” and distance the Adventist Church from its historic, anti-Catholic stance.  In 1974, the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists was involved in a lawsuit over alleged violation of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act.  Neal C. Wilson, then vice-President of the General Conference, made a startling statement in the Reply Brief for Defendants.
Neal C. Wilson

Neal C. Wilson
His statement reveals how far the SDA Church has fallen and how much she has changed in her beliefs:

Although it is true that there was a period in the life of the Seventh-day Adventist Church when the denomination took a distinctly anti-Roman Catholic viewpoint, and the term ‘hierarchy’ was used in a pejorative sense to refer to the papal form of church governance, that attitude on the church's part was nothing more than a manifestation of widespread anti-popery among conservative Protestant denominations in the early part of this century and the latter part of the last, and which has now been consigned to the historical trash heap so far as the Seventh-day Adventist Church is concerned.4

With the SDA Church successfully infiltrated and Adventist leaders downplaying, or outright denying, historic Adventist doctrines, the next step was to modify denominational publications to reflect the new theology.  A very clear example of this is currently underway at the time of this writing (April, 2015).  Ted Wilson, the son of former General Conference President, Neal C. Wilson, is the current General Conference President.  Upon his election as world leader of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination, Wilson pledged to widely distribute The Great Controversy.

Ted N.C. Wilson

First called The Great Controversy Project, Ted Wilson launched this campaign by mailing 22,000 books to all surrounding postal addresses neighboring the General Conference offices.  Later, The Great Controversy Project had been expanded and President Ted Wilson pledged to distribute over 100 million copies of the book The Great Controversy world wide.5

What started off as a campaign to spread Heaven’s truths everywhere has now degenerated into the widest attempt to date to cover up vital end time truths.  The original book contains 42 chapters and nearly 700 pages of information essential for all to know.  The book now being widely distributed bears very little resemblance to the original.  Fresh from the hands of denominational censors, the book, now re-titled The Great Hope, has 11 chapters and less than 100 pages.  The contents have been changed and condensed, the message softened and the great impact of the book has been lost.  Worse still, many important truths contained in the original have been entirely left out of this new abomination, while still purporting to spread end time truth.

Missing from this new version are all the distinctive, end-time, testing truth messages for this time.

Published by both Seventh-day Adventist denominational presses, Pacific Press and Review and Herald Publishing Association, The Great Hope lists as its author “E. G. White.” But would the prophet support an “adapted version” of her classical book The Great Controversy that does not include:

1. The cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary message.
2. The second angel's call to come out of Babylon.
3. The third angel's message exposing Sunday as the Mark of the Beast.
4. [Eighteen forty-four] 1844 as the hour of [Yahuwah’s] judgment (part of the first angel's message).
5. The investigative judgment (part of the first angel's message).
6. The identification of who and what is Babylon, the harlot woman, and her daughters.
7. The identification of the beast of Revelation 13 and 17.
8. The little horn who persecuted the true church from 538-1798 and will be the chief instigator in these last days.
9. Luther and all the reformers and their trials and persecution which will again be repeated.
10. The rise of the Advent awakening of the 1840s culminating in formation of the Remnant church and the seed of the woman, who keep the commandments of [Yah] and have the testimony of [Yahushua].6

“To receive Jesuits into a Kingdom is to receive a vermin which at length will gnaw out the heart of the State both spiritual and temporal. They work underhand the ruin of the countries where they dwell, and the murder of whatsoever kings and princes it pleaseth them.  . . .

“How can any honest man live among them? Do you wish to excite trouble, to provoke revolution, to produce the total ruin of your country [or church]? Call in the Jesuits.”

Jesuit’s Catechism, 1602, preface.
Neal Wilson, president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (left) exchanges an indisputable Masonic handshake with Konstantin Kharchev, the Soviet Union's Chairman of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The occasion was a socialist-sponsored environmental conclave, called the International Forum for a Non-nuclear World and the Survival of Humanity, February 13-15, 1987. Texe Marrs, "Codex Magica" p. 174

This is a travesty of truth.  All evidence linking the Papacy of Rome to the beast of Revelation has been removed.  It is nothing more than a deceitfully diluted version of the original.  But Wilson’s goal has been achieved.  The Great Controversy in its original form was once a depository of great and precious truths.  Now, with all of the distinct doctrines removed, it is acceptable to the beast power.  This is clear evidence of Jesuit infiltration into the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  From the first, Jesuits have not hesitated to assume whatever guise necessary to destroy Protestantism and promote Catholicism.  The German historian, Theodor Griesinger, wrote:

Their [the Jesuits’] object was the complete destruction of Protestantism and extermination of all Protestants as being the most formidable opponents to their dominion. To attain this end they never ceased to urge Catholics and Catholic princes to wage war against Protestants, and to destroy them by fire, sword and wholesale massacres. In Protestant countries, where they had little influence, their plan was to adopt disguises, especially that of Protestant ministers, in order gradually to pervert the religion of the people and as far as possible direct the policy of the State.7

It is important here to note that not all who further Jesuit goals are frocked priests.  All one has to do is cooperate in furthering Jesuit agendas and he (or she) is a tool in the hands of a despotic power that has influenced governments, infiltrated churches, and shaped the thinking of multitudes through their control of Ted N.C. Wilsoneducation since the sixteenth century.  It would appear that Ted Wilson, with his Great Hope abomination, is working hand-in-glove with the Jesuits just like his father before him.

Such action clearly reveals the hatred the opposers of truth have for this special gift from Yahuwah to His end-time, faithful children.  It also clearly demonstrates how much Satan and Rome hate this book and the truths it contains.  The Seventh-day Adventist Church was entrusted with spreading The Great Controversy around the world as the leaves of autumn.  They have failed in this holy trust.  They have forfeited Yahuwah’s calling and mandate and now do the very bidding of Satan himself.

The final generation will be called upon to go through great trials.  Strength, wisdom, grace and endurance are given to assist them through the fires of affliction.  As Ellen White observed in The Great Controversy, Yahuwah “gives a special truth for the people in an emergency.”8  That special truth is contained in The Great Controversy.
