When infamous celebrity football legend OJ Simpson was released from a 33 year prison sentence after serving just nine years, the conditions of his parole clearly stated that he must avoid “drinking to excess.” It took the accused wife murderer and convicted kidnapper less than a month to violate that provision of his early release — although he is unlikely to pay the price for it.

“The Juice” was loose Wednesday night at a Las Vegas hotel where TMZ reported he was “wasted” and “extremely unruly,” breaking glasses and becoming belligerent with hotel staff until security removed him from the premises.

The conditions of Simpson’s parole reportedly allow him to consume alcoholic beverages and even smoke marijuana, although his blood alcohol content must remain below .08, or the equivalent of a couple beers.
The Juice is Loose

Problems with the parolee started around midnight for staff of the Clique Bar at Las Vegas’ Cosmopolitan Hotel. Employees say that after drinking one too many alcoholic beverages, Simpson “became disruptive” and hotel security was called to remove the drunken hotel guest.

Security guards told TMZ that Simpson “was nice” to them during his removal. According to the Associated Press, the former football star was issued a “trespass notice” from the Cosmopolitan hotel-casino that bans him from returning.

Simpson was arrested in 2007 for his role in the armed robbery and kidnapping of sports memorabilia dealers at another Vegas hotel-casino. He promised a 2013 parole board that he would attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings while in prison because he was drunk during the robbery, though Simpson never followed through with his promise, telling a four-member parole board in 2017 that his “agenda was full,” and that he doesn’t have a drinking problem.

“I had drinks that day [of the robbery] but it was [at an earlier] wedding celebration,” he told the parole board that ultimately agreed to release him. “But I never had a substance problem at all.”

Simpson assured the board “beyond a doubt” that he wouldn’t have a problem abstaining from alcohol. “I mean I [haven’t] been drinking for nine years and I haven’t missed it,” he said.
Questionable Drug Screen

An AP report outlining the conditions of Simpson’s release last month said, “He is required to submit a blood or breath test for drugs and or alcohol any time the parole and probation division demands it.”

Apparently, Simpson did just that the day after his ouster from the Cosmopolitan, providing a urine sample either voluntarily or at the request of his parole officer. Simpson’s attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, told the AP that his client submitted to a drug and alcohol test for his parole officer on Thursday, and the results were negative.

According to AmericanAddictionCenters.org, alcohol is detectable from a urinalysis for 12 to 36 hours.

Patrons of the Cosmopolitan have said that Simpson has been a regular of the hotel’s bars since his release last month. But while the football convict may have escaped justice once again, his luck may run out soon in a party town like Las Vegas.
