A Judge just sent Robert Mueller a message that no one saw coming

Politics 202

Robert Mueller’s collusion witch hunt reached a critical phase.

A judge was set to sentence former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos to jail.
But the Judge’s decision left jaws on the ground for what it said about Mueller’s case.

Papadopoulos was sentenced to two weeks in prison for lying to the FBI.
The former Trump campaign aide lied to the FBI about when he spoke to Professor Joseph Mifsud.
Mifsud told him the Russians had “dirt” on Hillary Clinton.
Papadopoulos told the FBI this happened before he joined the campaign when in fact Papadopoulos was part of the Trump team when Mifsud approached him.
The Daily Caller reports:
Former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos was sentenced to 14 days jail in a federal court in Washington, D.C. on Friday.
District Judge Randolph D. Moss also ordered a year of supervision, 200 hours of community service and a $9,500 fine for the 30-year-old former Trump aide.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller had requested a sentence of between zero and six months for Papadopoulos, who pleaded guilty on Oct. 5, 2017 to lying to the FBI.
Papadopoulos becomes the first Trump associate sentenced in cases involving the special counsel’s office. Alex van der Zwaan, an attorney who worked with Paul Manafort, was sentenced to 30 days in jail on April 3 after pleading guilty to lying to the FBI about his pre-election work with the former Trump campaign chairman.
The FBI claimed Papadopoulos’s lie kicked off the Russia investigation.
But for the supposed inside man on the collusion scheme – Papadopoulos got off light.

He was not charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States.
And he was given a relatively minor jail sentence when Mueller was asking for much more.
This shows how weak Mueller’s collusion case really is.
We will keep you up-to-date on any new details in this ongoing story.
