The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced Wednesday that White would be one of several faith leaders participating in the swearing-in ceremony on January 20, including Archbishop Timothy Dolan of NY and the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference. White is the second woman ever chosen to pray at an inauguration, and the first female clergy member to participate: Obama tapped the first female prayer leader in 2013 when he asked Myrlie Evers-Williams, a lay person and the widow of civil rights leader Medgar Evers, to pray at his second swearing-in. Graham, who rallied Christian voters around the country this year over the issue of appointees to the U.S. Supreme Court, has credited God for Trump's win over Hillary Clinton. Rodriguez called participating in the inaugural "a patriotic honor" and "a sacred duty". "I am very thankful that prayer and reading from God's Holy Word will be a part of this important ceremony as the world watches".
