Uh, oh! Mitch McConnell is in SERIOUS trouble

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell makes his living by winning elections — but his reelection hopes just took a serious hit.

Following his spat with President Donald Trump, new polling data has left experts stunning. It appears that Americans heavily back Trump — not the career politicians he’s fighting against.

In fact, it’s so bad that McConnell is now the least popular politician in the entire United States.

Only nine percent of Americans approve of McConnell. Nine. His disapproval rating is worse than even House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi… and foreign dictators.

“This same poll from PPP has Vladimir Putin’s favorable rating among Americans at 11 percent,” HotAir reported. “McConnell’s less popular than Putin, than war, than famine — than even a Republican health-care bill.”

Even in Kentucky, where McConnell is from, the information isn’t good. According to the shocking report, only 18 percent of Kentucky voters support McConnell.

The data was released after Trump lashed out on Thursday at the lawmaker —

McConnell, at an event in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, did not respond to questions about Trump’s comments.

Besides healthcare reform, a top priority for Congress when they return to Washington is funding the government to prevent a shutdown. The government’s fiscal year ends Sept. 30 and legislation is needed to prevent a partial shutdown of federal agencies.

Trump’s long-promised wall along the U.S.-Mexican border could complicate those efforts, another project which McConnell has been unable to get done. Trump threatened Tuesday to force a federal shutdown unless Congress provides funds for the project.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway stressed on Thursday the president was serious about moving forward with the wall.

Speaking on “Fox and Friends”, Conway says Trump is “going to stick to building that wall and he wants the money to pay for it.” She adds: “anybody who is surprised by that has not been paying attention for two years.”

While tensions remain high, Trump and McConnell have also pledged to work together.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the two “remain united on many shared priorities,” and they and other top officials will hold “previously scheduled meetings” after Congress returns from its August recess.

In his statement, McConnell said they have “a lot of work ahead of us, and we are committed to advancing our shared agenda together, and anyone who suggests otherwise is clearly not part of the conversation.”

McConnell had better get to work soon — or the American people will throw him out of office.
