Determinedly Discipline Other Things. This is another difficult aspect of the strenuous nature of sainthood. Paul said, according to the Moffatt translation of this verse, “…I take every project prisoner to make it obey Christ….” So much Christian work today has never been disciplined, but has simply come into being by impulse! In our Lord’s life every project was disciplined to the will of His Father. There was never the slightest tendency to follow the impulse of His own will as distinct from His Father’s will— “the Son can do nothing of Himself…” (John 5:19). Then compare this with what we do— we take “every thought” or project that comes to us by impulse and jump into action immediately, instead of imprisoning and disciplining ourselves to obey Christ.

Practical work for Christians is greatly overemphasized today, and the saints who are “bringing every thought [and project] into captivity” are criticized and told that they are not determined, and that they lack zeal for God or zeal for the souls of others. But true determination and zeal are found in obeying God, not in the inclination to serve Him that arises from our own undisciplined human nature. It is inconceivable, but true nevertheless, that saints are not “bringing every thought [and project] into captivity,” but are simply doing work for God that has been instigated by their own human nature, and has not been made spiritual through determined discipline.

We have a tendency to forget that a person is not only committed to Jesus Christ for salvation, but is also committed, responsible, and accountable to Jesus Christ’s view of God, the world, and of sin and the devil. This means that each person must recognize the responsibility to “be transformed by the renewing of [his] mind….” (Romans 12:2).

I have a burning question. In Daniel 10:21; what is the "scripture of truth?" The scripture of truth cannot be the book of life as this book is never open until the 1000 millenium years at the white judgment seat.

Thank you for your prayers and concerns about my voice! I am sure the Lord knows the problem and He will, according to His kindness, show me the way forward.

The "Scripture of Truth" or "Book of Truth (NIV)" is God's master plan for Earth, the plan of salvation. His plan was written out and is being followed according to the Father's infinite wisdom. When Jesus takes the oath in Rev 10:6, the meaning of this oath is that He promises to carry out every detail given in the Father's plan.

It is not a plan that exists only in the Father's mind which He makes up as we go along.

Isa 25:1 O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.
Amos 3:7 Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.
Isa 14:24 The LORD Almighty has sworn, "Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand.
Heb 11:39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised.
Heb 11:40 God had planned something better for us so that only together with us
Isa 46:10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.

Sandi Koscak: "Prayers for the family of John and Sharon McRae, of Knoxville, TN (sister of Tom Koscak). Sharon is now in the arms of Jesus after a courageous battle with thyroid cancer. We want to lift up their children and grandchildren in this time of sorrow. They have two grandbabies due next year. Sharon was only 67."
Larry Wilson: Please continue to keep Larry in your prayers. He has an appointment scheduled with a specialist in early October. Pray that the source of his voice problem will be diagnosed and bring a helpful solution. Other than his voice, he is feeling perfectly fine. Thank you to everyone who have called or emailed to see how he is doing.
Doris: Please keep Doris in your prayers. She has had a minor stroke or event early this week. She has suffered, hopeful shortlived, short term memory loss. Please pray for her quick recovery.
