Report: Anti-Trump dossier author may have lied to FBI

#ReleasetheMemo may finally come to fruition this week after House Republicans voted to make the allegedly earth-shattering FISA abuse memo public. GOP lawmakers who viewed the memo called it “stunning” and “worse than Watergate,” and if its contents are truly as explosive as they say, then Democrats will be in serious trouble.
Some parts of the memo are already being leaked to the press, including one bombshell about a famous dossier author who fibbed to one of the most powerful federal agencies. According to a New York Post reporter, the memo alleges that former British spy Christopher Steele lied to FBI affiants who submitted an affidavit for a FISA warrant on Carter Page, a Trump campaign official.

If Steele really did lie to the FBI, he could face serious criminal consequences.
Trump Dossier Author Allegedly Lied to FBI Affiants
Carter Page, a former investment banker, and U.S. oil industry consultant served as a foreign policy adviser to the Donald Trump presidential campaign. He was also the target of government surveillance after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein approved an application to spy on Page, three months following the inauguration of President Trump.

The Department of Justice believed that Page was acting as a Russian agent.
Paul Sperry, a reporter for the New York Post, tweeted on Monday that the FISA memo claims that Steele provided false statements to FBI affiants, who then swore out affidavits for FISA warrants on Page. Steele allegedly told the officials that he had not shared any of the dossier information included in the FISA application with the media.



Last summer, Page submitted a request to Rosenstein’s office to publish information that was used to obtain a FISA warrant to surveil his communications.
He wrote in an email to the deputy AG:
Whereas this will be an open hearing (with Sessions), I would kindly request the immediate prior release of my illegitimate 2016 FISA warrants which were allegedly concocted by the FBI on Mr. Comey’s watch.
…I know that your team at the DoJ is currently working on my related request for these documents. However, the highly time-sensitive nature of tomorrow’s SSCI hearing would offer essential context for these discussions before Congress.
…I think the “really important documents” you could release would show a great deal about the nature of not just Comey and his continued lies, but the exceptionally dishonest nature of the Clinton campaign and Obama Administration on whose behalf he was acting. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

The Trump-Russia dossier is a document that has largely been dismissed as a work of fiction. Officials are now concentrating on the behind-the-scenes matters: who funded the dossier, who told what lies, and who in Washington is desperate to take down the president.

Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee voted on Monday to release Rep. Devin Nunes’ (R-Calif.) memo. The “shocking” memo aims to prove that former President Barack Obama “weaponized” intelligence communities for political purposes by abusing FISA warrants.
Former-FBI director James Comey, former-FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, and Rosenstein are named in the memo. It is evident that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election is not only biased, it has been tainted from the very beginning.
Democrats have been adamant about preventing the memo from being read by the American public.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) warned on Monday that releasing the memo would harm national security. She went as far as getting into a heated argument with CNN anchor Chris Cuomo.
Meanwhile, Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) tweeted that voting to release the memo is “destructive.” He said:
