Storms of Life


Waves of fear crashing down on the rocks that form

My foundation and protect my life from further erosion.

Explosions echoing as the force of the waves create giant

Columns of massive spray that cry out with every bad thing

That I have every done in my life - mocking me, taunting me.



Repentance, forgiveness, salvation - they have all been achieved

Yet the enemy bombards my mind with one accusation after another.

The winds of doubt are blowing at gale force as the waves reach higher

And higher as their downward force becomes even stronger - I cry out

For help but the turmoil around me drowns out my desperate distress calls.



I can hear His alarm in the distance as if it were a warning signal

From another vessel passing nearby in the darkness - "look out!"

Now I can see His light, it is majestic and its beam is so strong that I

Can feel its warmth on my wet face, I reach out for it, I crawl toward it

On my knees but when I try to stand the waves again crash down on me.



Now I hear His deep resonant voice as if it were a great foghorn bellowing out

I try to listen to the words of the Master but I keep allowing the noise of the world

To drown out His commands -oh how I need the Great Navigator at my side today!

Finally I realize that by staying on my knees I can actually hear his voice much easier

So I remain there, steadfast in my faith knowing that He does have all of the answers

And all of the solutions for the world's problems - and mine.
