Find your place


As I walk the trail slowly through the tall green pines

The smell of the forest lifts my spirit and clears my head.

The sound of the fallen pine straw from the previous season

Crackling under my feet reminds me of my childhood.



It's moments like these that help me to refocus my life

And on the calling that God has for me and for the future.

I hear the birds singing to each other and it reminds me

Of my friends and I running playfully through the woods.



As the sunbeams make their way down through the tree limbs

I can feel their warmth on my body and I feel totally rejuvenated.

Thinking back to all of the times that I would lay down on the forest

Floor and just listen to the wind blowing and singing through the treetops.



The echoes that I hear now sound just like the ones from long ago

They are shouting out God's glory and magnificence one minute

And then the next they are whispering loving words of encouragement

Oh how I long for the simple pleasures of childhood to return.



But wait, am I not at this moment walking back in time?

Am I not hearing God's voice much more clearly - right now?

So I ask myself what is stopping me from taking this magic journey

More often? Why not Monthly? Maybe weekly? Why not daily?



For right now I'm not really in the forest, yet I have the ability to shut off the world

For just a few brief minutes and to allow Gods restful peace to enter my soul.
