ONE RENEGADE CLOUD

One Renegade Cloud


While observing and listening to a rainstorm

Far off to the north, I noticed one solitary

Cloud slowly making its way south towards me.

As the lightening and thunder from the distant

Storm grew more intense this renegade cloud

Continued slowly on its solo journey southward.

My thoughts on the matter were that this cloud

Really served no purpose, it was providing no moisture

And that if it had chosen to remain with the others

How much more effective it would have been, how it

Could have shared in the glory and spectacle now taking

Place miles away and relished in the attention being drawn.

It was during this time of contemplation that I noticed

How this single cloud had inched its way under the bright scorching

Afternoon sun and had now started to provide a cool blanket of

Shade both over me and over the wildlife around me.

The worn and weary birds who had sought shelter in the sparse

Trees were now coming back to life and singing their praises.

A cool breeze now stirred the leaves and the grasses and they

Too sang out their melodies to that most awesome creator of ours.

And I with my foolish sense of what is important and what isn't

Humbled myself before God and thanked him for his daily reminders.
