Magic Moments

Blue sky dipping down and touching the green fields.

Cloudless horizons with infinite views in all directions.

The slightest breeze rustling through the wheat stalks

Causing them to sing out a divine melody of praise.

Leaves joyously chattering in the southwestern wind

As the birds seek and find shelter in the cool shade.

The stillness of this New Mexico afternoon is magic

Even the clamor of the farm equipment has died down.

Weary farmers, ranchers, and their workers have sought

Refuge from the brilliant afternoon sun - a brief respite.

It is as if the world has slowed down for just a few moments.

Enough time that is, to acknowledge the creator's workmanship.

Enough time to breathe in deeply the invigorating air of life

And to allow both the earth and it's inhabitants to recuperate.

This special moment comes once a day but is oftentimes ignored

By those who feel the need to keep moving - urgency dictates!

God graciously gives each one of us control of our days and hours

How we prepare for each new day and the next is strictly up to us.

But the Father has blessed us immensely with days and seasons

That contain magic moments and divine detours that bring rest.
