Remember Lot's Wife


Three simple words that our Christ spoke to his loving disciples

No complicated theories or hidden meanings - it was all very clear.

We should never look back on the past that held us in such bondage

The past only offers pain and destruction and it keeps the enemy near.

Simple disobedience and pride in ourselves leads us quickly backwards

Instead of forward as God desires for all of us - we bring back the pain.

Repenting for the things that we have foolishly done and not repeating them

That is all the Father asks of us - thinking on the past will never bring about change.

God proved this to us in his Word, it's for all of us to see - he made an example

The enemy uses condemnation to bring about our destruction - he uses it well.

We want to serve him but we want to stay in the past, we don't want to sacrifice

Lot's wife had a choice, she could have easily moved on to a new place to dwell.

We always try to count the many things that we'd have to give up to follow Christ

But we never stop to think of all the ways that we now actually serve the enemy's call

With one foot in the past world - and the other foot in the shadow of the Cross

We try to serve both Gods, please all of those around us - but that only build's up a wall

Around our hearts and souls that will never allow us to move forward in God's calling

On our lives - we have to listen, we have to obey, and be willing to never look back.

God really knows what is best for us but we have to trust his voice and his touch

We must keep our eyes looking forward and upward and that will always keep us on track.
