Previously deported illegal immigrant accused of raping mother of two in ‘sanctuary city’

The circumstances surrounding a New York rape case are more than a bit disturbing, mostly because this entire crime could have been prevented.

An undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, Ever Martinez-Reyes, who had been previously deported, was arrested Friday for allegedly raping a 36-year-old woman.
Should Never Have Happened
There are several circumstances surrounding this horrific crime that put the blame on liberal politicians fighting our country’s immigration policy.
Martinez-Reyes first entered the country illegally in 2010.

He was here for four years before being deported in 2014.
Due to the lax immigration laws at the time, Martinez-Reyes was able to quickly come back across the border and has remained here since.
Something of note here is that Martinez-Reyes has several other convictions on his record, but he was never turned over to ICE because he was living in a sanctuary city that does not cooperate with federal agencies.

Reportedly, he was also employed with a local landscaping business.
Still, he was protected by the liberal politicians in Nassau County (Long Island, NY) and allowed to stay in this country.
Brutal Rape
The rape itself, which occurred around 1:30 a.m on September 28, was described by prosecutors as “one of the most brutal” sexual assaults they have ever seen.

The attacker followed the woman as she was walking home and attacked her on a front lawn. After beating her unconscious, he repeatedly raped her.
Authorities stated the suspect assaulted the woman for more than an hour.
Somehow, after the attack, the woman was able to call her mother, telling her, “He raped me. He raped me.” She is reportedly recovering from internal injuries.
The attack was caught on nearby video surveillance cameras.
Martinez-Reyes has been charged with two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and second-degree assault.

If convicted, he can be sentenced up to 25 years in prison.
Shockingly, if Martinez-Reyes is released for any reason, he will still not be turned over to ICE because Nassau County will not turn over undocumented immigrants to authorities.
