Every Good Gift

Comfort When It Hurts
come from above,
from Almighty God whose name is Love.
Each gift – perfect – comes from Him
in whom there is no taint of sin.

The world we live in could have been
formless… black alone be seen.
Instead it’s filled with warmth and light,
design and beauty of every type.

Beasts and creatures, birds and fish –
for nothing more could they wish!
Brilliantly each one functions:
awesome facts – not myths and fiction.

Food and water, flowers, trees,
clouds and sunshine, seasons, breeze,
laughter, fun, thoughts and feelings,
work and play, health and healing.

Consider more – marvel – see
God’s provisions for you and me.
Eyes and ears, vessels, joints,
the brain, our organs – to God they point!

Soul-mates, friends, fathers, mothers;
love and caring for one another.
Playful kittens, pets and hugs:
nothing spared in God’s gifts of love.

Forgiveness, wholeness, salvation’s plan
through God’s greatest gift – the Son of Man!
Joy and peace, protection, guidance
for every circumstance that tries us.

God’s gifts to us without a doubt
are infinite – we cannot count.
How sad that one estranged would live
from the God of Love who good gifts gives!
