JESUS LIVES!.....

Jesus Lives!

The dark was passing
as the sun was rising.
But inside was cold:
shock numbed in its hold!

They had taken the One whom we loved…
on a tree He was hung!
His death they did bring
when we believed He’d be King!

On this awful morn,
our hearts were forlorn.
Shattered, forsaken, we moped
without any hope.

But as light appeared,
with our spices prepared,
we set off for the grave
where we knew He was laid.

On our way troubled, we groaned
because we knew a huge stone
had been placed in the way
to guard where He lay.

When to the tomb we came near,
we panicked with fear:
the stone meant to stay
had been rolled away!

More tears started rolling;
someone… His body had stolen!
The thought seared us through.
What were we to do?

We peered into the tomb;
bright light suddenly loomed
and an angel was seen
sitting where Jesus had been.

He spoke, reassuring,
“Jesus has risen! He’s living!
He is not in the grave,
so don’t be afraid.

“And no more will He die;
tell His friends He’s alive;
they will see Him again,
just as He said.”

He is who He told them,
God in the flesh.
His words now made sense;
they were true, not pretence.

What fools we had been!
How slow to remember
Jesus said He must die,
but from the grave He would rise!

He’d ascend to His Father
and reign in our hearts
as Redeemer and King,
for His Kingdom’s within.

This changed everything;
now joy filled to the brim
and we shouted out loud,
“Alleluia, Jesus lives without doubt!”
