Bring My Child Home

A mother and father got news
One sad and fateful day.
Their son had died in action
On a battlefield far away.

They had to face the grief
That a child's death can bring.
They were bowed low with sorrow.
To their faith, they did cling.

"Bring my child home soon"
Was the only request they made.
"We want to bury him here.
Among family, he will be laid."

After life's battle is over,
And a Christian soldier dies,
He is quickly ushered to Heaven,
Though his body in the earth lies.

"Bring my child home to Me,"
God bades the angel of death.
"This child belongs to My family.
He has taken his last breath."

God's children are brought home
To their home beyond the sky.
God gives them dying grace,
Then they live with Him on high.
