I Am With You Always

We sang those heavenly hymns.
A smile was on each face.
We felt God's holy presence.
There was glory in the place.

The preacher preached with power,
And the "amens" filled the air.
Special blessings overflowed
As the message he did share.

Our hearts were filled with joy.
We were happy in the Lord
As we worshipped with the brethren,
With the saints in one accord.

I entered the cruel world again
As I left the church that day.
Not everyone I met was happy.
Their frowns, they did display.

Lord, what happened to my mood?
At church I was happy and free.
"Child, I am with you always"
Were the words He stressed to me.

He is the same God at church
As He is within my heart,
So I will rejoice in the Lord,
For He never will depart.
