Vain Jangling

Paul warned Timothy about
Teachers who had turned aside.
They forsook true doctrine
In their ungodly pride.

It seems there were those who
Hindered the Gospel of Christ,
Even though for their sins,
Christ, as a lamb was sacrificed.

They desired to teach the law
Rather than free redemption of sin.
They turned aside to "vain jangling,"
Like discordant sounding men.

Are we guilty of "vain jangling,"
Instead of witnessing for our Savior?
Do we chatter meaningless talk?
Does our faithfulness to Christ waiver?

When every opportunity comes,
Let's witness for our great Lord.
Let us put away "vain jangling."
In Heaven we'll receive our reward.
