(NaturalNews) Did a Facebook "un-friending" lead to the abduction of ten homeschooled Kentucky children by the local sheriff's department? No one knows for sure at this point, but given the fact that the family has yet to be told what prompted the Breckinridge County Sheriff's Department to remove the children -- allegedly without a warrant -- Joe and Nicole Naugler aren't ruling anything out.

As reported by Health Impact News' "Medical Kidnap" site, the Naugler's children were taken around May 6. Nicole, who is little more than five months pregnant and attempted to drive away from the property with a couple of her children, was injured slightly after deputies allegedly roughed her up during her incarceration.

According to audio files posted at the SaveOurFamily blog, sheriff's department officials explained to Nicole that anonymous charges were made against her and her husband, Joe, and that the county's legal apparatuses, including Child Protective Services, were already in motion with the end goal being removal of her children.

During the audio, a sheriff's department official explains to Nicole that while she had a right to refuse to allow him or CPS to talk to her children, because of the allegations -- which were never explained -- the most likely outcome would be CPS removal. If she and her husband resisted, they were told they could felony charges of interfering with state custody proceedings.

"For what grounds?"
Nicole repeatedly asserted that she had constitutional rights and wanted to know what charges were made against her and her husband, but to no avail.

"Here's how I see this thing going down, here's how I am certain it's going to go down," said the sheriff's official around the 2:15 mark of the audio recording. "You are standing the chance of having your children removed."

"For what grounds?" Nicole asks.

"When there's allegations made, okay, they [CPS] have an obligation to check them out," said the sheriff's official. "They can't say, 'Oh, we just don't believe it,' or, 'Oh, we went out there and the mother or father said, "You can't speak to 'em." They can't do that. I mean, if they think that it's BS or something, and a lot of times that is those type of calls. There probably is a decent chance that that is this type of call. And there is a decent chance that this can be resolved much simpler. But I'm telling you, the refusal, to say, 'No, you will not talk to my children,' the court is going to step in, and I think they will remove your children."

Eventually, Nicole asked her two oldest boys if they wished to speak with the sheriff's department; both refused. The other eight children were with her husband, Joe, at a different location.

At that point, the sheriff's official told Nicole that she was free to go but that he "couldn't promise" he and other deputies would not be back, intimating that a county court was likely to take action based on the complaint filed with CPS.

Disorderly conduct and resisting arrest
As for the family, Joe and Nicole live on a rural Kentucky homestead where they "live a very simple life" raising food and animals, says HIN. "They are industrious people trying to teach their children how to live right." On the audio, the sheriff's official asked Nicole if her family received "any state assistance," and she replied, "No. We will not be whores of the state."

HIN further reported:

When the officers left the home, they attempted to block the access road to the family property. Nicole and the two boys got in their car to leave the family property. They got only a short way down the road before the officers pulled Nicole over.

During this stop, Sheriff's deputies took their two oldest boys from Nicole's custody, providing her no justification or documentation to support their action. Nicole was able to contact Joe briefly by telephone, but only for a short period of time, because she needed to use her phone to record the events.

At that point, Nicole was taken into custody, allegedly for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after refusing to passively allow officers to take her sons. Eventually, the county took all of her children.
