I Am Homeward Bound

They said the dreaded word "sequestered."
That word, I did not want to hear.
I was away from home on that jury.
Now I would have to stay very near.

I had to stay in that city there,
And I had to observe every rule too.
Also I knew that I couldn't go home
Until that newsworthy trial was through.

The court tried to make us comfortable.
They gave us special dinners and such,
But for many days I couldn't go home,
And I missed my home so very much.

Finally that verdict was announced,
And that long trial was over then.
I rejoiced for I was homeward bound.
I could return to my family and kin.

O Christian, we can be glad and rejoice
That when our earthly trials are o'er,
With a victory sound we're homeward bound!
We'll be safe on that golden shore!
