Right now, the stock market in the healthcare sector is beginning to show signs of greater problems to come. For instance, healthcare services company HCA Holdings Inc. took a major hit November 7th, after SVP Christopher F. Wyatt sold 3,152 shares of the stock. The transaction of nearly $250,000 sent the stock into free fall. HCA Holdings is comprised of 168 hospitals, 116 freestanding surgery centers, three psychiatric facilities and a rehabilitation center.

American medical system desperately needs reforms for the people, not the investors and drug companies
Important reforms to the American medical system are inevitable at this point. The medical system is overdue for a radical revolution, but this time insurance companies, drug companies and Wall Street investors should not be writing policies that work only in their favor.

As the Obamacare boondoggle crashes in on its own policies and brings down the healthcare sector with it, Americans will be willing to try something new. With Donald Trump and a Republican controlled Congress at the helm in 2017, major reforms will have to be enacted. The newly elected government can start by lifting the government's price controls which allow brand name drugs to own a patent monopoly for many years. By lifting the price controls, generic drugs and cheaper alternatives can compete in the marketplace, ultimately bringing down healthcare costs.

Other freeing changes could occur very quickly, allowing for healthy competition that would drive down the cost of healthcare. For example, if midwives were openly incorporated into the medical system, unnecessary interventions during birth would be mitigated, allowing for drastically cheaper birthing costs. A University of Sydney research team found that midwifery care throughout pregnancy equates to a greater percentage of spontaneous onset of labor and an unassisted vaginal birth. Midwifery patients were also 10 times less likely to undergo an elective caesarean than women with private obstetric care.

The incorporation of naturopathic medicine itself is important in preventing high cost medical interventions. Other important changes could include making natural medicines more accessible. For example, if medicinal cannabis was legalized nationally, then patients with cancer, seizures and other health problems could access a cheaper, natural medicine that provides significant results. Patients wouldn't have to suffer with opioid addiction. They wouldn't be cursed into a cycle of expensive radiation and prescription pill routines.

Medical system moneymakers such as vaccines could be put under greater scientific scrutiny. Toxic substances in the vaccines that lead to adverse events could be eliminated altogether to prevent further hospitalizations, doctor visits, illness, autoimmune conditions, allergies and early funerals.
