A Tribute To My Daddy

The time was during the great depression.
My dad dearly loved Jesus Christ.
At first we lived in a big old house.
I saw that he had a lots of white mice.
He built cages for the mice that were nice.

After a tine we moved to a rock house.
It was on a hill and I thought it was nice.
Daddy would pray before we all ate.
Thanking God for our food so great.

Food was scarce in those hard times.
Blackberries and plums grew wild around there.
I would pick the berries and mom would make a pie.

There were hickory and walnut trees there too.
So we had these nuts to eat as food also.
They helped us survive in those hard times.

My dad loved animals and he had quire a few.
He got homing pigeons we enjoyed a lot.
God provided us with this food also in need.

He had chickens goats and ducks, so we had meat and eggs.
I helped my dad build a fence and pen for them.
And we had milk from the goats too.

This was during the great depression you know.
Daddy tried to get into some small businesses.
He tried selling colored potatoes chips and snow balls.
And also ice cream but got very few calls.

So my dad when into the plastering business you see.
He got some jobs but times were hard for all he did.
My dad worked hard for all of us you see;

So we got through the depression by the grace of God..
My daddy died at the young age of only 55 years.
He never complained or said things were hard.

He was sick for a long time before he left us.
He is in heaven now a much better place.
But God gave us a living Dad for for a space in time.
We are all very grateful and thankful to God for him.
