President Donald Trump on Monday named and condemned hate groups as “repugnant” and declared “racism is evil” in an updated, forceful statement on the deadly, race-fueled clashes in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The president described members of the KKK, neo-Nazis and white supremacists who take part in violence as “criminals and thugs” in a prepared statement from the White House.

While the president’s remarks were necessary in the wake of increasing division in America, one Green Beret veteran had already said it all in a Facebook post that is quickly going viral.

The image shows American soldiers posing with communist and Nazi flags after defeating our enemies in order to bring an end to those ideologies.

He is reminding Americans that we fought for years to bring an end to this way of thinking, and we owe it to our nation’s veterans to maintain what they lost their lives fighting for.

Green Beret and mixed martial arts fighter Tim Kennedy posted the image to Facebook Sunday and it quickly began gaining shares and likes.

It’s clear that the majority of Americans agree with Kennedy.

Our nation’s heroes fought and died for over 40 years to bring an end to those extremist ideas, and there is no reason any American citizen should revert to supporting them now.

Trump called for unity Sunday as he joined the Green Beret in denouncing racist violence.

“We must love each other, show affection for each other and unite together in condemnation of hatred, bigotry and violence. We must rediscover the bonds of love and loyalty that bring us together as Americans,” he said.
