51 Some Think the Noble Qur’an’s Here Q2:260

Some think the noble Qur’an’s here
To proclaim like a chanticleer
The doctrine of the divine One
Out in empty universe spun.

It’s not oneness in the abstract,
But oneness in the way to act
And be divine and deity,
There’s just one God to set us free.

Gods many and lords many run
About the circle of the sun,
But only great Jehovah can
Raise up to life woman or man.

In Genesis Abraham waits
To waylay his God at the gates
Demanding how that he should know
That he’d have a son at eve’s glow.

The same tale’s repeated in word
Of the Qur’an for what occurred
When God told Abraham’s heart stirred
To take and sacrifice a bird.

He had to watch the pieces spread
Out over the mountains, so sped
To scare away the vultures fed
On promises instead of bread.

The question the man asks for truth
In the Qur’an is one forsooth
Not mentioned in the Bible text.
Abraham was a man perplexed.

The central issue of the book
Sent to Muhammad, now just look,
Is not tawheed, but how a god,
Just any god upon the sod,

Can resurrect a body cold
And bring the dead to life and bold.
So God commanded Abraham
To spread the bits of birds, not ham,

Upon the mountaintops where they
Were in danger of vulture prey,
And then call the birds to him.
And they came flying back as trim

As any homing pigeon could
Who had been left alone in wood.
From this Abraham came to know
And not just believe in the show.

He came to know as all men may
Who read Muhammad’s word today,
That God is wonderful and wise
And can give life to gals and guys.
