Trump fires back at “disgraced” NY attorney general

A lawsuit filed by New York’s attorney general Thursday said President Donald Trump used his charitable foundation to settle personal business disputes and bolster his political image with donations directed by his staff.
The lawsuit being led by “disgraced” Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says the foundation illegally helped support the Republican’s campaign by raising money at a nationally televised fundraiser in January 2016, then allowing campaign staffers to dictate how the money was spent in grants.
Schneiderman has been sitting on this case for nearly two years, but waited until Trump was in the best state of his presidency to bring forth the lawsuit. Critics believe he coordinated the timing of the lawsuit for a specific reason.

The Donald J. Trump Foundation “was little more than a checkbook for payments from Mr. Trump or his businesses to nonprofits, regardless of their purpose or legality,” Democratic Attorney General Barbara Underwood said as she sued to dissolve the foundation and seek $2.8 million in restitution.
The lawsuit was filed Thursday against the foundation and its directors, Trump and his children Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump.

In a couple of tweets, Trump called the case “ridiculous” and said he would not settle the lawsuit.

The foundation’s mission says its funds are to be used “exclusively for charitable, religious, scientific, literary or educational purposes,” either directly or through other organizations, according to the court filing.

Schneiderman began investigating the foundation in 2016 following Washington Post reports that its spending personally benefited the presidential candidate. Schneiderman ordered the foundation to stop fundraising in New York, but never brought forth a lawsuit.
Critics have pointed out that it seems fishy to suddenly sue Trump only days after he successfully orchestrated an agreement with North Korea to denuclearization — an achievement no other president could accomplish.
Schneiderman resigned last month after allegations that he abused women he had dated, but of course he denied the claims.

As the mainstream media is eating up the news of a lawsuit against Trump, they are failing to recognize that they are standing behind a man that abuses his girlfriends. Schneiderman is not someone to be trusted — and critics believe this lawsuit is a tactic to turn the attention away from his misfortunes.
