Female witness named by Kavanaugh accuser has ‘no recollection’ of alleged sexual assault

The California clinical psychology professor who says Supreme Court hopeful Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her 36 years ago when they were in high school just had another hole poked in her story.

Leland Ingham Keyser, a witness that Christine Blasey Ford said was at the party where she was allegedly assaulted by Kavanaugh, has now said that she has “no recollection” of the incident.
Apparently, she doesn’t even know the Supreme Court nominee.
Twist of fate
After Keyser was named by Ford as a witness to the alleged event, wherein Ford says Kavanaugh tried to “attack” her and “remove [her] clothing,” Keyser’s lawyer, Howard Walsh, came forward a shocking announcement: Keyser has no firsthand knowledge of the party at all.

“Simply put, Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present,” Walsh said on Saturday, “with, or without, Dr. Ford.”
Keyser says she was a “lifelong friend” of Ford’s — but even a best friend can’t corroborate a story that may not be true.
You can’t explain your way out of this one
After Keyser’s statement was published, Ford’s legal team was on the defensive for what seems like the first time.

Debra Katz, a lawyer for Ford, tried to explain on Sunday that it’s “not surprising” that Keyser doesn’t remember the incident — especially since it happened more than three decades ago.
(Apparently, Katz’s client has a much better memory than her “lifelong friend.”)
“It’s not surprising that Ms. Keyser has no recollection of the evening, as they did not discuss it,” Katz said. “It’s also unremarkable that Ms. Keyser does not remember attending a specific gathering 30 years ago at which nothing of consequence happened to her.”

Katz went on to argue that her client “of course will never forget this gathering because of what happened to her there.”
You would think her “lifelong friend” would have some memory, too, though — especially if Ford was willing to name her explicitly.
As Ford and other women continue to claim that they were assaulted or otherwise mistreated by Kavanaugh, witnesses named by these accusers continue to come forward to say that they simply can’t corroborate their stories of assault.
Another witness named by Ford even said: “I have known Brett Kavanaugh since high school and I know him to be a person of great integrity, a great friend, and I have never witnessed any improper conduct by Brett Kavanaugh towards women.”
Kavanaugh himself has also denied what he called “completely and totally false” allegations.
But all of these denials have had little effect on Senate Democrats, who want to postpone Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing until after midterms, likely in hopes that they will take control of Congress so they can push out Kavanaugh — and any other potential justice that Trump nominates.
