(Natural News) Congressional Republicans are working hard to get to the bottom of what appears to be a major scandal that could forever taint the reputation of so-called “environmentalist” groups operating in the United States.
As reported by The Daily Caller, a number of big names in environmentalism would seem to be working on behalf of the communist Chinese government, using environmental protection and “Save Endangered Species!” rallies as cover for a sinister, anti-American agenda.
Republicans from the House Committee on Natural Resources reportedly sent their fourth letter to an environmental group known as Earthjustice that evidence suggests has direct ties to foreign governments, including that of China.
Because Earthjustice has been actively involved in trying to stop the U.S. from establishing a military presence in the city of Okinawa, Japan, claiming that the site of the proposed base would harm the “dugong,” an endangered marine mammal, House Republicans say that Earthjustice needs to register as a foreign agent.
“The Committee is concerned that your organization’s political activities within the United States in opposition to the relocation of [Marine Corps Air Station] Futenma and the continued military presence in Okinawa may require compliance with” the Foreign Agents Registration Act, reads a portion of a letter sent by House Republicans to Earthjustice president Abigail Dillen.
The Center for Biological Diversity is similarly suspect in terms of being tied to communist China
The letter to Earthjustice follows a similar one sent by House Republicans back in June to the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD), another “environment” group that’s expressed vehement opposition to the relocation of the U.S. military base, known as Futenma, to Okinawa.

In response to the letter it received, CBD reportedly told House Republicans that Earthjustice represented a larger coalition of environmental groups and entities that all oppose the Futenma military base’s relocation, and that they collectively filed a lawsuit against it back in 2003.
A recent decision by a federal court ruled in favor of the Pentagon and against Earthjustice et al. However, the groups that filed the suit are still trying to thwart the U.S. government’s plans, which House Republicans say designates them as foreign agents rather than merely non-partisan environmental protection groups.
“Foreign members of the anti-base coalition represented by Earthjustice appear to have already engaged in extensive political activity within the United States, including lobbying government officials and holding media events designed to influence public opinion,” the letter from House Republicans further states.
“Beyond serving as the coalition’s attorney, Earthjustice has directly participated in the publicity campaign condemning the base relocation such as by sending open letters to the President of the United States and Japanese Prime Minister,” wrote Reps. Rob Bishop of Utah and Bruce Westerman of Arkansas in a corresponding statement.
Natural Resources Defense Council and World Resources Institute also pegged for ties to communist China
But it doesn’t stop there. Two other big names in environmentalism, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the World Resources Institute (WRI), have also turned up as potential foreign agents working on behalf of communist China.
Lawmakers are pressing these two groups to fess up about the true nature of their stated desire to maintain good relations with the Chinese government. They want to know whether or not this commitment in any way affects how these two groups involve themselves in U.S. affairs.
Thus far, Earthjustice has been mostly silent in responding to questions of this nature. But the NRDC has, in fact, issued a statement of denial to The Daily Caller, insisting that its activities are intended to promote U.S. interests, despite the group’s ties to China.
“NRDC seeks environmental solutions that are grounded in sound science, U.S. law and the public interest,” wrote NRDC’s director of strategic engagement, Bob Deans, in a response letter to House Republicans.
“We work on behalf of every American to protect our people against dangerous pollution and leave our children a livable world. Those are American values, American goals, and advancing them is manifestly in our national interest, as we have consistently demonstrated for nearly 50 years,” Deans added.
Environmental groups tied to China support global climate taxes
What Deans failed to mention in his letter, however, is how China’s version of environmentalism involves implementing things like “carbon taxes” to address made-up environmental threats like “global warming” and “climate change,” which have been exposed as fraudulent.
It was back in 2013, in fact, when Earthjustice announced that China had come forward with plans to implement carbon fees – questioning, at the time, “whether the U.S. will join other major emitters by putting fees on carbon pollution.”
This gist of this announcement by Earthjustice was that “climate change deniers” in the U.S. were throwing a wrench into global plans to tackle “climate change,” which is what all of this faux “environmentalism” really seems to be about.
The announcement further praised far-left politicians like Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for trying to push legislation that would mandate carbon fees in the U.S., something that now-President Trump seems to have done away with by pulling America out of the bogus Paris Climate Accord.
All of this suggests that Earthjustice and others are in active collusion with communist China to influence American policy, particularly as it pertains to “climate change.” And as such, these groups need to be registered as foreign agents rather than “non-profit” groups that are simply and purportedly just trying to promote “American values.”
