Question: If the "sons of Elohim" in Genesis 6 are angels, why did Ellen White pen that they were the "sons of Seth"?

"'The sons of [Elohim] saw the daughters of men that they were fair.' The children of Seth, attracted by the beauty of the daughters of Cain's descendants, displeased [Yahuwah] by intermarrying with them." (Patriarchs and Prophets, p.81)
Answer: The "Sethite" interpretation of Genesis 6 was prevalent in the days of Ellen White, as it had been since the fifth century. She was not here speaking by inspiration; rather, she was communicating the text as she and many others understood it in her day. Mrs. White was not infallible, nor did she claim to be.

"There is no excuse for anyone in taking the position that there is no more truth to be revealed, and that all our expositions of Scripture are without an error. The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many years by our people, is not a proof that our ideas are infallible. Age will not make error into truth, and truth can afford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation." (RH, Dec 20, 1892 --CW 35.2)
