PROPER DRESS

I am sending this out to continue our discussion on modest dress that we have been having for the past few decades.  This is an excerpt from the camp rules that Keith and Dwayne Wilson sent out to the ones going to youth camp in Illinois.   This is an example of someone recognizing the problem of immodesty and making an attempt to address it.
I have actually run people off for dressing immodestly before and that may not have been the right answer, but neither is it right to dress immodestly.     Everyone has an opinion but when there is a question of conduct we are told to “ask your father and he will tell thee, thy elders and they will show thee.”       An opinion based on a scriptural foundation is not to be quickly disregarded.
 This guideline that Keith and Dwayne came up with is a starting point, but not the final answer.    At the recent 4th of July celebration in Tyler, I was reminded of how individual carelessness results in group failure.    These types of issues are indications that the glory of Yahvah has departed.     Dressing modestly does not make us holy, but dressing immodestly can render us unholy because it leaves the door open for immorality.

Dress For Camp

Because modern fashion does not always fall into the modest category, here are

some guidelines to follow when packing for camp:

Camp is full of fun, sometimes dirty activity, so this is the appropriate attire:

 DAILY ATTIRE: Colored crew neck t-shirts and shorts, capris, or jeans.

 SWIM ATTIRE: Swimsuits are allowed, but must be covered with swim

trunks/board shorts and colored t-shirt or surf/swimming shirt. Boys must

have mesh liners or undergarments under swim trunks. No mesh or

running/athletic shorts allowed.

 SERVICES ATTIRE: Collared shirts for boys, dress or skirts for girls.

This is what not to wear:

 No sleeveless clothing

 Shirts will be worn at all times.

 Shorts must be knee length. (No more than 6 inches from floor when in

kneeling position.)

 No low cut necklines. No V-neck, scoop or square necks. This applies to

guys and girls.

 No excessively tight garments (including yoga pants and leggings)

 No t-shirts should be worn that symbolize alcohol, drugs, cigarettes,

perverted jokes, inappropriate images, occult symbols (pentagrams, etc.)

 No shirts showing midriff (front or back)

 Skirts and dresses must be knee length

 No pants, shorts, or skirts with writing across the buttocks
