48 Allah Protects Those who Have Faith Q2:257

 

Allah protects those who have faith

From depths of darkness and from wraith

He will lead them out to the light,

Where there is no evil in sight.

 

But He’ll lead those who turn away

From faith from light to go astray

In depths of darkness, where they’ll be

Companions dwelling in fire’s spree.

 

May God grant me what faith may stand

Upon a universe that’s grand,

With galaxies beyond command

And emptinesses on each hand.

 

May God grant me faithfulness in

The valleys of temptation’s sin,

The humdrum of the daily task,

The ecstasy where I may bask.

 

In Iroquoian ways of speech

The light is not knowledge to reach

Nor guidance of the spirits good,

But to be polite as I should.

 

I see how many people know

With witty wisdom to make show,

But few are able at the test

To remain polite with the best.

 

My mind and heart are filled with such

Aphorisms that the wise touch,

But I pray for ability

To keep up simple courtesy.

 

So then I shall walk in the light

And keep from stumbling in the night.

Let me keep that faith close to heart

And ride with horse before the cart.
