THE GARDEN GOD GAVE US

They had a large family garden patch;
With a fence and gate that closed with a latch.
They grew lots of large red and yellow tomatoes;
And had watermelons and white Irish potatoes.

God's red sun came out to make all the plants grow;
But the weeds came up so they had to hoe.
Red beets were there and they ate the tops for greens;
And they grew a lot of good navy beans.

Cucumbers, peas, and carrots they grew there too;
And they were real good when cooked in a stew.
The cabbage heads were very hard;
And they thanked the God for the good sod.

In another part of the garden strawberries grew;
They all really enjoyed eating them too.
So they thanked God for blessing them with these fruits.
And their labor God blessed them with that too..
